Welcome to the 2022, 8th Annual Shakopee Lions’ Club Pond Hockey Tournament! We are extremely excited to be kicking this event off once again especially since this event was canceled last year due to COVID. Please be sure to read this message in its entirety as some details have changed from 2 years ago. Please complete the form at the end of this document to register as a team and submit it along with your payment by check or Paypal. The Lions Pond Hockey will again coincide with our Lions Ice Golf outing on Saturday, February 12^th due to how successful fundraising has been in the past by gaining synergies in concessions, labor, beer licensing, etc. The day will be an absolute blast with food, drink, bonfire, ice golf, prize drawings, trophy presentations and live music. In 2020, we had approximately 1,000 people in attendance!

This is not only a great time, but it is a worthy fundraiser! The cost is $300 per team which includes 8 wristbands. The wristbands are valued at $20 apiece and provide admission for each hockey player to attend the overall event as well as making them eligible for the prize drawing ($160 value!).  The grand prize is a round trip vacation for 2 to Las Vegas ($800 value) as well as other cash prizes. The two winning bracket teams of the pond hockey tournament will each receive $300 and be awarded the coveted Traveling Trophy with their team's name engraved on it.

The tournament will begin at 8am at the Jackson Township Park pond located at 1091 130^th St W just south of Shakopee on Saturday, February 12^th, 2022. The tournament will wrap up by 4pm and there will be 6 rinks and 2 brackets. We will be rotating through the 6 rinks at any given time. We will play 4-on-4, half ice games for 30 minutes. We will accept up to 24 teams into the tournament on a first come basis.

There will be 2 brackets again this year of up to 12 teams each, a “Gold” or competitive bracket and a "Silver" or a recreational bracket.  In order to be allowed into the Silver bracket, teams must have 75% of their players above the age of 40 or be co-ed. Sandbaggers may be forced to forfeit their games. Teams may have 4-8 players and all skaters must be 18 years of age or older.

Teams are encouraged to bring both light and dark jerseys. The Lions Club will sell hot food and drinks plus there will be a bonfire to prevent the players from getting cold.  Teams are strongly encouraged to bring fish houses with heaters.

We are very excited to be organizing this tournament once again and look forward to seeing everyone! Please encourage your friends and family to come and enjoy the winter day and help raise money for local charities chosen by the Lions Club.
